New Interview On David H. Burton's Blog
ABOUT DAVID H BURTON:
David Burton is an Indie author, adoptive father of 3 boys, manager of chaos, science and technology geek, person of the queer persuasion, and purveyor of sacrilege. His latest novel, 'The Second Coming,' is taking Smashwords, Amazon and Goodreads by storm!
Read 'The Second Coming' by David H Burton:
"Five hundred years have passed since the Earth shifted on its axis a catastrophic event that wiped out civilization and released the powers of the dead back to Earth. With technology long abandoned, a dark age has shrouded our world once more. Travel to a future of blood sacrifice, demons, witchcraft, and an immoral God that has returned to reclaim his former dominion."
Beautifully written, dark and eerie vision of an apocalyptic future.
- New York Times Bestselling Author, Margaret Weis.

"Natasha Rhodes interview - The mind behind monster-hunter Kayla Steel
Real vampires don't sparkle. Real werewolves aren't big fluffy radiators. Real heroines don't pine and waste away just because some dead guy has left them. A real book has more attitude, more fight, more bite. The Kayla Steele series by Natasha Rhodes is a horror series that delivers.
In this in-depth interview, Natasha rhodes gives us a glimpse into her mind with an Exclusive on the titles of her new Kayla Steel book plus a sneak peek aof a hot new character coming our way. From axing characters to curing Writer's Block, Natasha spills the beans on all.
Including the age-old question: Werewolves or Vampires?"
Missed the first two books? Check out Mookychick's great review of the series so far:

She is currently one of the last people on earth to learn how the heck to use 'Twitter'.
THE PATH TO PUBLICATION:
One of the most popular questions people ask me is how I got started in publishing. Here's a brief rundown...
Age 0-9- Lived in a small house by a farm in the middle of freaking nowhere in rural England. Very bored.
Age 10 - Found an ancient black tome in my Grandmother's attic - an original copy of the combined works of The Brother's Grimm. Read it in one sitting, then dutifully went outside in the garden and buried it under four feet of earth so I would never have to read it again.
Age 11 - Borrowed my mother's library card so I could rent 'grown-up' Horror and Sci-Fi books from the library. Promptly fell in love with Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury and Stephan King. Decided I wanted to be a Horror writer.
Age 12 - Discovered the 'Last Legionary' series by the late great sci-fi writer Douglas Hill - my first Heroic Fantasy.
Age 13 - Tried to write my first book, the novelization of my favorite sci-fi movie 'Short Circuit 2'. Slaved away all summer with a tiny manual typewriter, transcribing the movie, then sent off my (original!) pages with great hope to the movie studio asking them to publish it... only to receive a letter back 5 months later saying that the official novelization had already been written. Buried my typewriter in the garden next to the Brother's Grimm anthology.
Age 15 - Discovered the works of Terry Pratchett. Read every book in the DiscWorld series and decided I wanted to be a comedy writer like him. Tried to write a comedy book like one of his. Failed amusingly.
Age 16 - First saw 'American Werewolf in London' by John Landis. Fell in love with werewolves.
Age 17 - First read the Annie Rice novels after a friend recommended the series. Struggled through the first two books before deciding that this woman should be force-fed books 1-8, beaten about the head with a succession of garden impliments and immediately departed to Russia. Too many frilly shirtsleeves!
Age 18 - Studied for my Batchelor of Arts Degree at the University Of Wales College in Newport. Studied Cinamatography and screenwriting. Co-starred in my first-ever action comedy movie 'Cop On The Edge 9 and a half' (spoof of Reservoir Dogs/ Naked Gun). Went to Cannes Film Festival to promote the film. Failed to gain any corporate funding but watched a lot of terrible movies and learned the #1 rule of Storytelling - if you don't care about your story and characters, then your audience probably won't either.
Age 21 - Saw 'The Crow' at the cinema. Fell in love with the movie as it embodied everything I loved - horror, black comedy, rock music, and the themes of love, loss and revenge. Reading the graphic novel series introduced me to the medium of comic books and gave my short films a new edge.
Age 26 - My first big break. Heard from a friend that a brand new Science Fiction imprint called Black Flame was being launched by gaming giants Games Workshop, home of the Warhammer series. Contacted the editor and was told that they were looking for new writers to write movie novelizations. I didn't even know what a novelization was but I said sure, what the heck.
I was told to pick my favorite movie and write up the first few scenes like the first chapters of a book. I picked Blade 2. A week later I heard back from Black Flame and was told they liked my chapters and they'd like to hire me to write the official adaptation of a New Line Cinema movie that would be coming out in a year. The movie was Blade 3: Trinity.
Age 27-29 - Moved to Los Angeles and went on to write and publish four more movie novelizations and movie-based tie-in books of New Line Cinema's movies, 'Final Destination 1 and 2,' an original tie-in book called 'Final Destination: Dead Reckoning,' and a Freddy Krugar book titled 'Nightmare on Elm Street: Perchance to Dream. ' All of these books were completed in an extremely short time-frame, ranging from 8 weeks to four months.
Age 30 - Moved to another new Sci-Fi/ Fantasy imprint called Solaris, which focussed exclusively on original fiction by new authors. Based on my good track-record with Black Flame, I was lucky enough to be given my own ongoing book series, set in LA (where I was currently living) and starring supernatural crime-fighter Kayla Steele. The first two books in the series were published shortly afterwards, 'Dante's Girl' and 'The Last Angel.'
Age 31 - Solaris was bought by Rebillion, an imprint of Abaddon Books. The new Solaris will be publishing the third book in the Kayla Steele series, 'Circus of Sins,' and is currently negotiating rights to the forth book in the series.

CIRCUS OF SINS -
CHARACTER CONCEPT ART
Okay, so I admit it. I didn't draw these pictures. The best I can manage is a stick figure, and a deformed one at that.
But if you ever wonder what I see in my head when I write about these characters, this is pretty close. And in case you ever wondered, this is what happens when I'm let loose on Photobucket after six cups of coffee at three in the morning...
The pics of Kayla are by a brilliant artist (and a great inspiration of mine) named Victoroia Frances.
